Trip Summary

  • La Paz

La Paz is becoming a must-visit destination on the South American gringo trail, partly due to its convenient location between many of Bolivia's and Peru's greatest sites. But this bustling metropolis at a breathtaking 11,600 feet above sea level has plenty of worthwhile attractions of its own. Warm clothes are a must, almost any time of year, and do take time to get used to the high altitude before doing serious touring. La Paz isn't on every traveler's radar, but it should be. It's an amazing city, set among the Andes Mountains and is the highest capital in the world.

Explore the Valle de la Luna, Basilica of Saint Francis, Ethnography Museum, Museo de la Coca, Museo Nacional de Arte, Valle de las Animas, Catedral Metropolitana Basilica Nuestra Senora and much more.

  • Cochabamba

Cochabamba is set in a valley in the Andes Mountains in central Bolivia. Its name comes from a combination of the Quechua words 'qucha' meaning lake and 'pampa' meaning open plain. Residents of the city and the surrounding areas are commonly referred to as cochalas or, more formally, cochabambinos. King Charles III of Spain renamed the city as Villa of Cochabamba in 1786.

Visit La Angostura Lake, Museo Convento Santa Teresa, Palacio Portales, Cristo de la Concordia, Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian, Jardin Botanico Martin Cardenas and so much more!

  • Santa Cruz de la Sierra

Located in tropical east Bolivia, Santa Cruz de la Sierra seems like a totally different world. At only 1.312 feet above sea level, the mountain scenery and high altitude has changed to humid weather and modern vibes - some may say not the 'authentic' Bolivia. However, this other Bolivia, with its exceptional flora and fauna as well as a variety of landscapes from snowy mountains to the curvy Amazon and never ending green forests is exceptionally beautiful and enjoyable.

Visit the Catedral Metropolitana Basilica Menor de San Lorenzo de Santa Cruz, Lomas de Arena Regional Park, Parque El Arenal, Santa Cruz de la Sierra Botanical Garden and much more!
