Poznan is the fifth-largest city in Poland and the capital of Greater Poland. Although it was settled in the tenth century, making it one of Poland's oldest cities, it is very much a modern, bustling city that is one of the nation's hubs for business and trade. That history can still be seen in a collection of lovingly-preserved buildings, such as Poznan Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Poland, dating from 968 CE. Other noteworthy points of interest include Poznan Town Hall, built in a late Renaissance style with a detailed arcade loggia; the National Museum, with its collection of Polish paintings from the 16th century to the 20th century; and the Imperial Castle, built in 1910 for Kaiser Wilhelm II.
