The Transylvanian settlement of Rasnov features ancient caves, sleepy lines of Baroque houses from the 18th century, and a history full of heroic fights and medieval confrontations. The town`s main attraction is of course the impressive Rasnov Fortress, one of the most visited medieval attractions in Romania. Believe it or not, first mentioned in an official document in 1331, the fortress was built by Teutonic Knights as protection against invading Tartars and was later enlarged by the local Saxon population. Recently, the old fortress has been restored to its former glory and today, you can visit the amazing remains. As a matter of fact, The city has a few pretty streets with colorful houses, so take a short walking tour of the old town. Stay at the fancy Radsor Hotel and admire the “Hollywood” sign at the top of the hill.
