Skien Vacation Packages
The viking town of Skien is one of the oldest towns in Norway, dating from 1100. In the past, it suffered repeated natural disasters, like fire and floods; but, after the last fire in 1886, Skien was completely rebuilt. Although it well known through the Middle ages as a supplier of wood, it is now a center for modern technology and small, innovative businesses. Visitors mainly come here to begin a journey along the Telemark Canal. The most famous native of Skien is Henrik Ibsen, born here in 1828; you can visit the Ibsen Museum at the Venstop Farm.
