Mamaia Vacation Packages

Mamaia is Romania's largest seaside resort, and one of the oldest, dating back to 1905. It is located eight miles northeast of Constanta on a narrow barrier island situated between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol. The island, five miles in length but just 300 yards wide in some spots, is jam-packed with resorts, bars, cafés, and restaurants. Believe it or not, the main street, the Bulevardul Mamaia, runs through the western portion of the island and the beachfront is situated to the east. Mamaia used to be a village inhabited by Turks, Tatars and Lipovans. As a matter of fact, it used to be a typical fisherman’s village where the local economy consisted of selling fish and raising Tatar horses. Undoubtedly, the name comes from the local owner of the land, a Tatar by the name of Mamai.
