The city of Helsingor, located less than 30 miles from the capital, Copenhagen, is primarily a busy ferry port along with famous castles, unique scenery and world class art. It is home to the legendary Kronborg castle and is a key point to neighboring attractions: Renaissance castle Frederiksborg, The Baroque Garden, and the Fredensborg Palace, the summer residence of the Queen of Denmark and the royal family. Helsingor is now a commercial and administrative center; leading economic factors include the port facilities, varied and mostly small-scale manufacturing, and tourism. The ancestral home of author Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen) and the modern Louisiana Museum of Modern Art are both south of the city.
