Karlskrona, a historic navy base at the southeastern tip of Sweden, is on the UNESCO World Heritage list as an outstanding example of a late17th-century European planned naval city. Stortorget, or the main square of town, is one of the biggest and most beautiful in northern Europe. Believe it or not, this is the only place in the world where you can paddle around a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve while enjoying the amazing fortifications and buildings of a World Heritage city. As a matter of fact, Karlskrona is very well known as Sweden's only baroque city and is host to Sweden's largest naval base and the headquarters of the Swedish Coast Guard.
