Karlskrona, a historic navy base at the southeastern tip of Sweden, is on the UNESCO World Heritage list as an outstanding example of a late 17th-century European planned naval city. Stortorget, the town's main square, is one of the biggest and most beautiful in northern Europe. Believe it or not, this is the only place in the world where you can paddle around a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve while enjoying the amazing fortifications and buildings of a World Heritage city. Karlskrona is well known as Sweden's only baroque city and is host to Sweden's largest naval base and the headquarters of the Swedish Coast Guard.
