Montignac (Lascaux) Vacation Packages

During the early fall of 1940, an amazing archaeological discovery was made above the Vézère River near the town of Montignac. Housing palaeolithic cave paintings of exceptional quality, size, sophistication, and antiquity, Lascaux Cave is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the world's great treasures. Estimated to be up to 20,000 years old, the paintings consist primarily of large animals, once native to the region. Since Lascaux Cave is closed to the public, a replica has been created at Montignac.
