Located on a lake of the same name in England`s Lake District, Grasmere is one of the most popular villages in the region with tourists. Most of the buildings date from the 19th or early 20th century, though the farms around Grasmere are much older. The parish church dates from the 13th century. The lake offers superb views, especially early morning in the summer, with the mist rising. At the center of the lake, there is a small island, called simply `The Island`. Sights include Dove Cottage, where `Lake Poet` William Wordsworth lived for eight years of his life.
