Puzzuoli is a beautiful, colorful maritime town. The main attraction is the Anfiteatro Flavio, built in the last part of the 1st century and the third biggest in Italy. One of the finest surviving ancient arenas, it`s particularly famous for its large underground cavers where exotic beasts from Africa were caged before being turned loose in the ring to test their jungle skill against a gladiator. In the immediate vicinity is the Solfatara - the most impressive volcanic phenomenon known. Moreover, Pozzuoli may not be as popular as other cities in Italy, but don’t let that fool you. Pozzuoli is a smaller but beautiful upcoming tourist destination that is worth a visit.
