Monte Sant `Angelo Vacation Packages

In the beautiful Umbra Forest, ten miles north of Manfredonia, the remote town of Monte Sant'Angelo stands on a rocky spur offering panoramic views of the surrounding terrain. The most important place here is the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo, a Unesco World Heritage Site, built in the 13th century by Charles I of Anjou, and one of Europe's most important pilgrimage sites. Nearby, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore (11th-12th centuries) features a façade with blind arcades and a baldachin portal with sculpted frames. Inside, the walls are decorated with Byzantine-style frescoes. Monte Sant'Angelo is one of the villages that has best preserved the typical Gargano culture, and its medieval neighborhood of Rione Junno is charming, with its narrow alleyways and whitewashed houses. It was also designated Puglia Capital of Culture 2024.
