Ullapool is a picturesque port and an excellent destination for a Scottish holiday. The town boasts a small museum, an arts center, a swimming pool and plenty of pubs. The harbor is still the center of activity in town, and is used as a fishing port and ferry port. Ullapool has a strong reputation as a centre of music and the performing arts and plays host to a very popular annual guitar festival. Despite its modest size, it is the largest settlement for many miles around, and an important tourist destination. If you are travelling through Scotland’s NC500 route, make sure you leave some time for this town. This is one of the main stops on the route and a great base for those that want to travel further north during their visit to Scotland.
