Fuji Five Lakes is a region at the base of Mount Fuji that includes Yamanaka, Kawaguchi, Saiko, Shôji and Motosu lakes. At its heart is Fujiyoshida city, with its Yoshida Trail up Mount Fuji, Fuji-Q Highland amusement park and the Fujiyama Onsen hot springs with wooden bathhouses. Lake Kawaguchi, known for its resorts and museums is also nearby; and just west, Lake Saiko is famed for its trout and Aokigahara forest. The area is also popular for its temples, water sports and snow sports in the winter. Out of the five, Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka are the most popular.
