Kawasaki is mainly an industrial area, with some of Japan's biggest brands factories located here, including Tokyo Electric Power and Fuji Electric. Kawasaki Daishi, also known as Heiken-ji, is one of the most popular Buddhist temples in the prefecture, established in 1128 and dedicated to Kobo Daishi (774-835), the founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Japan.
