Playa del Ingles, or the Englishman`s Beach as it translates, is situated to the south of the island of Gran Canaria, in the archipelago Canary Islands. The resort is hugely popular with tourists, especially British tourists, who come to enjoy the wide sandy beaches, which stretch from Maspalomas to San Agustin, all-year-round sunshine and the busy nightlife. The bustling town is made up of apartment blocks, hotels and shopping centres; there is an immense choice for those who want to indulge in cheap souvenir shopping and bargain hunting, as in many places you can haggle with shop owners to get the price down. The Plaza Maspalomas is a good place to head, and there is also a market every Wednesday and Saturday morning. The main seafront has an attractive promenade, the Paseo Costa Canaria, where you can take an evening stroll along to the Playa de las Burras, where Maspalomas starts. Or you can simply sit in the shade of the verdant gardens that line the promenade.
