The unique and stylish Teruel is a mountain town located in the Aragon region of Spain far to the east of Madrid. It’s a relatively small town and a little out of the way for many tourists. The town is the capital of its own province, but maybe get overshadowed by the equally scenic town of Albarracín. But Teruel is definitely worth the journey. Moreover, the town sits at an elevation of 915m, which is much higher than other destinations you might visit in this part of Spain. When arriving in Teruel, the first sight visitors are likely to encounter is the incredible Escalinata del Ovalo. This grand staircase leads up from the park by the train station into the town centre. Its mix of brickwork and tiles will be your first real taste of the town’s Mudejar style.
