Port Townsend is on the northernmost end of the Quimper Peninsula in Washington state, and is one of the most lovingly-preserved examples of a 19th-century port town you will find on the U.S. West Coast. The historic district of Port Townsend includes hundreds of buildings built in the Victorian, Queen Anne and Romanesque architectural styles. It is well-known for being one of the driest and sunniest cities in Washington, making it a popular year-round vacation spot. Downtown is gentile today compared to its rough-and-tumble waterfront heritage. Tall ships no longer line the bay, but you may catch sight of classic wooden schooners under full sail.
