Evansville is the third-largest city in Indiana, and the principal city in the state`s southwest, situated just across the Ohio River from Henderson, Kentucky. It is an economic, cultural, and educational hub for the region, and is home to a number of museums including Angel Mounds, a pre-Columbian era state historic site. There are also 13 distinct neighborhoods that are listed as historic districts by the National Register of Historic Places, including the original settlement around the riverside.
