Albany is the capital of New York and the principal city in the Capital District, the third-largest metropolitan area in the state. Albany`s history stretches back four centuries, and is on display in over two dozen museums. Albany is home to varied architecture, such as the Romanesque Revival New York State Capitol building. It is also known as a regional hub of arts and culture, education, and nightlife.
