The United States`s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts has a history that stretches back over 400 years, and it should definitely be on your must-see list. Situated 40 miles north of Boston, the city gives you a true taste of New England, one that is laid-back, polite and helpful, and most importantly is not too touristy. Gloucester also plays a major role in the fishing industry – and has been featured in the reality TV series Wicked Tuna and the movie The Perfect Storm.
