Rochester is the third-largest city in New York. Nicknamed The Flour City, the city grew from a tiny settlement to a bustling city in less than 20 years, eventually becoming the largest producer of flour in the United States. It is now known as a major manufacturing center, and is the home base for such companies as Kodak, Western Union, and Xerox. It is also known as a regional education hub and has a thriving food culture with many local delicacies to choose from. Old industrial buildings cluster near the Genesee Rivers High Falls. The George Eastman Museum, on the early-1900s estate of the Kodak founder, has photography exhibits, film archives and gardens.
