Poughkeepsie, New York, `The Queen City on the Hudson`, is one of the principal cities in the Hudson River Valley. One of the original capitals of New York state, this area is steeped in history, and can be seen in its seven noteworthy historic districts, such as the Union Street Historic District, the oldest neighborhood in the city. Five miles away, the town of Hyde Park hosts such attractions as the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library. Established in the 17th century by the Dutch, Poughkeepsie is a bustling college town filled with wonderful examples of historic architecture alongside trendy boutiques and excellent fine dining restaurants.
