Gig Harbor is located on the southeastern end of Kitsap Peninsula, situated across the Puget Sound from Tacoma. Nicknamed `The Maritime City` due to the long-standing commercial fishing and shipbuilding industries flourishing here, today it has transitioned to a quiet suburb of Tacoma, with a beautiful historic waterfront area, and is one of the gateway towns to the Olympic Peninsula.
